Members candidly shared the challenging reality of applying for SSDI with fibromyalgia, with nearly everyone reporting being denied at least once or twice before approval, and the process often taking years to complete. Several members strongly recommended hiring a lawyer early, obtaining detailed documentation from doctors about pain and functional limitations, and filling out all forms as if experiencing the worst possible day rather than being optimistic. A recurring theme was persistence and self-advocacy, as many eventually succeeded after multiple denials, gathering comprehensive medical records, and attending hearings with legal representation and thorough physician support.

I applied in July with Fibro, depression, anxiety, degenerative disc. I hired my lawyer after I applied and wish I had hired her first. She called me last week and said there was a decision but it went to quality review. I've heard both that this is a good sign and also applications are pulled randomly whether they are approved of denied. So a waiting game right now.

I have filed for disability and been denied twice. I have a lawyer and this is my final chance at getting disability. I had my court date in August and the judge wanted to further review my case and would take the timeframe law allows her to make a decision. I'm slapping my head at that one. I had a questionnaire given to me by my lawyer which was nearly 20 pages long and my doctor and I sat and scheduled an appointment for only filling out that paperwork The paperwork was a bunch of questions with boxes of check yes or no. He did not just check yes or no he wrote comments on almost every single freaking question. So I don't know what other proof she can get since she has that documentation as well as all my medical records. This is just crazy. It's a hard road ton of paperwork a ton of running around getting medical records decking doctors give them to you but can you specialist trying to remember who all you sing and hoping the judge will listen to you. So I suggest yes get a lawyer! Good luck gentle hugs to you

I applied and yes it can be a challange. They usually denied the first time unless you have a really good representation. I didn't have representation the first time so I was denied and I applied a second time and denied. I got a lawyer and got a hearing on October 25, 2016. Get a lawyer and get your doctor's to give you documentation of all your pain and symptoms and medicines, get your husband or family member to help you fill out the paperwork that they are going to send you and if you say that you don't do anything that you have someone helping you and helping take care of you and do things in the house and go shopping and take you driving and those kind of things with good documentation from the doctor it's a possibility that you can get it the first time. I didn't realize that until after my second time and now my doctors on board with a lawyer and I'm almost sure that I'm going to get it. Good Luck on your 1st try.
