My neurologist is the one who finally diagnosed me with fibro
Yeah. This is a problem! I had a doctor for years who finally believed fibro is real. He was supposedly helping me with filling out my documentation for a disability. I can't work. But I had to go on Medicaid. And he said "your best interest is to go to a doctor in my insurance. Makes no sense. I was paying out of my own pocket! But it's like this. What the news is to find a rheumatologist. Our signs and symptoms from "fibromyalgia" like the pain and all the other problems need documentation from doctors. My disability attorney explained all this to me. He said that disability judges look for evidence that there is a problem. Because so many doctors put fibromyalgia as a diagnosis when they don't know what's really wrong with us. I hope this helped. Best wishes and good luck my dear friend!
It's hard. Many of us get diagnosed because doctors don't know what's happening.
So many problems. So I would tell your doctor you are having many problems. Be specific. Ask him/her to please try to help you. See if you can be referred to a rheumatologist. Just don't push or be too aggressive. If you get some doctor who won't help you. Go see another one. Good luck! Prayers and hugs to you.
I've been to a few.the rheumatologist was a joke .It seems like the type of insurance matters.
The doctors who treat Fibro may be neurologists, pain Mgt., rheumatologists, and others. I asked my family doctor for for referrals. Took about four doctors before I got a good doctor.
