Lately I notice my hands and arms have been very swollen. My aunt noticed them yesterday. Share asked if I took any water pills. She said I should be , I am retaining alot of water and that could be very dangerous. Has any one else experienced this since they have been diagnosed with Fibro?

i do take them , for i have cardiac heart failure !so at times i take them when my legs start feeling a weird way ! and with a those pills you need to have your kidneys check plus take patasium< miss spelled with them !and you want to take them right before you go to bed !because you will be urinating all day long ,so if you take them at night, when you awake you will be getting rid of it ! jut saying ,you should get checked out , before you take diuretics !love peace ,joy and hugs with prayers michele
My feet, legs and hands have swollen badly for many years and I have taken diuretics for years. I have not had as much swelling during the past year for which I am very thankful. Lately I have noticed that my hands and feet will feel swollen but aren't actually swollen. I've read swelling and the phantom sensation of swelling are both common with fibro.
I had it first and then the Fibro. There are times I do feel swollen more than normal which may be the Fibro.
@A MyFibroTeam Member when I mean retaining water my hands , arms, get very swollen . Have your hands ever gotten. Swollen that you can't get your rings off? That is what it is like. But I don't pee alot. I do drink alot of water. I can't get enough water . I hope this is a better description
all symptoms are important and it is important not to dismiss even if 'just' Fibro....any imbalance or symptom needs to be explored. I went in to my rhuematologist with a pain in my foot that had gotten much worse...while she thought is was gout, or Fibro, she took xray to make sure nothing was broken or i didnt have rhumatoid arthritis.
You can always google WebMD to get the dialogue going re what might be happening to your body...luckily there are many ways to address water retention dietarily and with meds, and as it can effect blood pressure it can be dangerous. I would want to have a discussion with my doctor as to why it might be happening so you aren't just covering up the cause...cause may not be discoverable
