Does Anyone Suffer From Arthritis?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have arthritis in my neck and my back my pain is chronic and constant. I understood arthritis pain to come and go over time, not a daily pain that doesn't let up or breaks in between. Does anyone have a different understanding? please share!

@A MyFibroTeam Member...I had lots of blood tests and MRI's just to determine what kind of arthritis but everyday my knees hurt eveyday. The rheumatologist told me I had rheumatoid arthritis and wanted me to have an intravenous infusion medication but I didn't because no physical symptoms. Then he came up with fibromyalgia. He told me I was too fat and etc....I was tired of him .When I went to Chronic Pain Management I found out I have severe Osteoarthritis in both knees and Fibromyalgia. This doc wanted me to go to have surgery .I talked to two different surgeons. One said I was too fat to do the surgery and the other told me I was too young. Now I just go to GP and use up to four Lidocaine patches per day. It doesn't even knock the edge off the pain I feel. I did lose 30 pounds but the attitude was the same except they added exercise and lose more weight. Sorry if this is too much information.

I have degenerative bone and joint disease and my neck has been broken twice. I am in pain every day, but some days are better than others. I just pace myself. I rest in between household chores. I can never get everything done in one day, but I have learned to accept that ( I used to be OCD when it came to my house ). Take your time, pamper yourself as much as you can and smile, even when you don't feel like it. Laughter and smiling helps a lot. If not physically at least mentally.

I am the same way. I have osteoarthritis along with fibromyalgia and to go along with all of this i have degenerative disc disease and osteopenia in my back. I have pain every day but I have to cope with most of it. I'm not sure if I would have surgery or not because it can make it worse. I don't think it's too much information. I share everything I have too.

.XeniaCook, It's not too much information. It was recommended that I have a bariatric surgery I didn't feel I needed it so I did what I could to avoid having the surgery. Then it was recommended I have knee surgery but unfortunately, my back was giving me more problems so I didn't have the knee surgery but it seems surgery keeps getting thrown at me and I keep avoiding and researching all recommended surgeries. If you are being told something that you don't agree with do the research and make informed decisions. Let whatever treatment that is being recommended be your decision to partake in it.

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis causing severe back pain as well as osteoarthritis in most joints, some worse than others and inflammatory arthritis in hands and elbows. Arthritis pain can be both, there all the time to a greater or lesser degree (me) and for others (some of my friends) it is intermittent. Both get worse with bad weather systems and stress and both seem to have unexplained flare-ups. Hope that helps?
