Members discussed how quickly acid reflux medications should work, with the consensus being that some treatments like antacids work within 10 minutes while prescription medications like Prilosec typically take 24 hours to a few days depending on severity. Several members shared their personal experiences, including one who needed to double their dose to 40mg for relief and another who found that combining an antacid tablet with a calming liquid helped neutralize excess acidity. A recurring theme was the frustration of managing unpredictable symptoms, with members expressing solidarity over the challenge of distinguishing acid reflux from other conditions and dealing with side effects like recurring thrush.
