Ok....so I go to the dentist with some tooth pain. Haven't been for 3 years (naughty I know) but look after my teeth very well, or so I thought
After some x-rays the dentist tells me I have an infection in the bone, causing constant abscesses which is very bad for your health by all accounts.
I currently have 4 of them and the bone has disintegrated away leaving around 1-3mm holding the teeth in place YIKES

So the dentist tells me I will have to have my teeth pulled and dentures in to… read more

Members shared their experiences with severe dental problems related to fibromyalgia, with many describing bone loss, chronic abscesses, and tooth loss despite diligent oral care. Several members identified dry mouth from fibromyalgia medications as a major culprit, leading to infections, cavities, and root canals, with costs ranging from thousands to over $10,000 in dental work. A recurring theme was the exhausting cycle of the body fighting constant dental infections while managing fibromyalgia symptoms, with some members expressing cautious hope that removing problematic teeth might reduce the overall burden on their immune systems and improve their quality of life.

I have a horrible time with my teeth and the dds said it was because of all the meds I take that they cause dry mouth. Dry mouth is notorious for causing infection and a multitude of other problems. I have had over 10k in work done in my mouth to correct all my cavities, which become root canals when not fixed right away. I have crowns and bridges to the tune of 6K for 5 new front teeth when my old bridge just broke off when I bite into a sandwich with hard crusted bread. I would get a second opinion before having all your teeth pulled. Although it was more expensive for me to keep my teeth but my dds wouldn't pull them. I continue to have teeth problems even when I use a fluoride rinse, and special paste to keep my mouth from drying out completely. The time that I have the worst dry mouth problem when I sleep. I will repeat that you should get a second opinion but be aware that the fix and keeping your teeth may be really expensive. There may be a way that your dds can put bridges in but you just need teeth to attach them to. Good luck and let me know if I can help you with any further information. hugs, barefox

I just got the same news, they are taking all my teeth out and giving me dentures. My dentist has been trying to keep up, but the last couple years they are thinning, breaking, and well essentially falling out faster than we can keep repairing them. Along with that infection and abcess down to the bone have been a struggle too. You should think that I didn't take care of them but it's quite the opposite, I have always been a little obsessive about keeping up with them. I have heard from a few people that really bad fibro cases deal with this problem. I think it has been keeping me so sick trying to fight constant infections that it has made my fibro much worse, I am in bed most days now. I am actually somewhat hopeful that taking this step will give me a dramatic improvement, but I am scared also.

I had the exact same thing at front top of teeth. I've currently got abscesses around one tooth. I wonder if this is to do with our fibromyalgia or just coincidence x

I'd really like to know how being rid of all your teeth has helped anything, or been a god send because truly my own, man I want them GONE! Now I've never been diagnosed with Fibro, and never taken anything for it. But every stupid thing from the aches and pains to inexplacable rashes, dry mouth, the everything, sores in my mouth, to fatigue all of it has lead me to the belief that fibro is my ill. I take an occasional insaid like Advil, Acetametiphen was doing a number on my stomach lining. TMI, look in the toilet and think "Hey, I think I need that". That passed, everything new leads to something new. I tried Prilosec for heartburn, works great, but then again I can date that to the sores in my mouth ( is there a win here? ). Fatigue, depression, pain, and GOD the tinitus has lead me to be a person that doesn't care anymore. At least about me, but because of all this, I have become empathetic to anyone that is going through anything now days. I know I'm a man. I have this. And it isn't about being the weaker sex and all that, but shit, just being a girl is enough right. This has to be just about enough on top of just being a woman. Hugs to you all, hugs to my own. Hugs to us all.
