So my boyfriend works full time n I can't work but going to all the doctors n taking my son to school n back is just like working full time. It takes hours to see some of these doctors. Then I do what I can manage as far as cleaning n cook dinner n clean up etc
It feels like he doesn't consider the things I do all day. It's like oh I worked all day. What did u do.
It really upsets me. I could scream.
Any advice? I don't want him thinking like that but I'd like some respect because what I doโฆ read more

I have had my husband go to Dr with me, and she explained fibro to him, along with putting written info in front of him to read, so he understands a lot better and is more supportive. I have had lower back fusions, and then had to have a northern Dr redo the fusion because the first draft used the wrong hardware, then a third to remove a screw that went into my sciatica nerve... that was a painful time, now it is hard to tell if it sciatic pain or fibro pain. Dr's are going to kill the static nerves again....๐ฅ. My husband is so patient with all my surgeries and this fibro mess. I am lucky.
take one breath at a time , some people will never understand. My mother in law has FM too and is always telling well I do that why can't you. just one breath at a time.
Sorry I dont know how to post images or other links, I hope the above comes through. Its about taking a fibro person 5 times more energy than a normal to do the simplest task.
bearfox I can relate
I have an older husband (73) who is old-fashioned and believes that cooking, laundry, and cleaning are "woman's work." I can't tell you how angry that made me when he actually used those words and also said to me, "A woman's work is never done!" Over time, I have educated him to what I go through by talking gently to him and with respect to his feelings. I have given him information on fibro and depression to read to help him further understand my situation. I even took a class in pain management which helped me with material because I would share with him what I learned and then explain how it was true for me. He eventually got it and has started to help me with laundry, vacuuming, and he unloads the dishwasher because he knows how these tasks hurt me. I recently had another talk with him about his attitude toward me regarding when I lay on the couch from pain (and all the other stuff) and told him how he stresses me out and then stress causes pain. He apologized and said he didn't realize how his actions were affecting me. So far so good. But it has taken time and patience to get him to understand what it is like to be me. Good luck with your talking to your boyfriend and remember to just be patient. It takes a while for men to "get it."
