Texas has very hot summers, I have wondered if the heat makes fibro worse? I get tired very fast and have no energy when outside. I get very frustrated because I used to not be like this.Just curious if anyone else notices weather having an affect on Fibro.

Members overwhelmingly confirmed that weather conditions significantly affect fibromyalgia symptoms, with many reporting that both extreme heat and cold trigger pain, fatigue, and swelling, while changes in barometric pressure often serve as a reliable predictor of upcoming flares. Several members shared practical strategies including taking vitamin D supplements (ranging from 2000 to 5000 IU daily), checking iron and B vitamin levels, resting before anticipated weather changes, and staying near air conditioning during hot months, though many noted the frustrating challenge of bodies that cannot regulate temperature properly. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of these limitations, including embarrassment over excessive sweating, frustration with reduced energy compared to their former active selves, and worry that others might perceive their fatigue as laziness rather than a genuine symptom of their condition.

Welcome Sandy! I tell you what I thought I was going nuts and so irritable .In my case I have more pain when it is hot. I am fatigued and not able to do much. I am now postmenopausal and I never knew what symptoms were for menopause or fibro.I still have the symptoms. Also, I didn't know my Vitamin D was so low either.I take 2000 iu per day .My head would sweat and I could not cool off.I am going to ask my doctor to check my Vitamin D again to see if it improved.

Yes. I believe Fibro is worse in the winter because of the cold. I know in the winter my neck, back & shoulders hurt so bad that I can hardly do anything. I lose sensation in my hands just from the slight exposure to too much cold weather.

Hi Sandy! I do find the weather effects me tremendously. Especially when the barometer changes and we are going from heat to cold. I usually know 2-3 days in advance when a storm is going to hit. The energy issue is just one we all have to struggle with. My family doctor said to take 2000 iu vitamin D along with vitamin B12 for energy. Just haven't seen much improvement yet. But only been a short while. I am taking 5000 iu vitamin D.
