My husband has been telling me for at least a year that I flail my legs and my arms/hands most of the night in my sleep. It has gotten so severe that he sleeps in another room. I absolutely hate that but it is not at all fair to him that his sleep gets screwed up because of me and something I cannot control. I looked it up the other day and found PLMD. There was a video taken of someone who suffers from it while they were sleeping. I showed my hubby and he said that that is me to a TEE!!! PLMD… read more

I never heard of this syndrome but I do suffer with the same thing. I have to sleep in another room as well. My doctor said I have Restless leg syndrome. I started getting Trigger Point Massages from a therapist and just learned something new. When we sleep at night our muscles stiffen up because the muscles accumulate a fibren in the muscles causing stiffness and and increased pain. This is why we wake up all stiff and painful. So I bet the reason we flail our arms and legs is a autonomic response that the body is reacting to the need for circulation and oxygenation. Something to think about. I highly recvomend you find a massage therrapist in your area that is knowledgeable on how to do trigger point massage and try it. I just started my therapy and I can see its going to be helpful.
I was diagnosed with PLMD. My mom has Restless Leg Syndrome, and hers was made a lot worse by taking SSRIs. Not sure if they worsen PLMD as well, but something to think about if you take certain antidepressants and your sleep movements are really destroying your quality of sleep.
Hi Lisa I have never heard of this syndrome, however I have found that Magnesium helps my restless leg, also drinking Tonic water with quinine in it . Maybe it would help with this also . Canibis oil Helps relax the body so that too may be helpful. My worse days are always when I don't get enough sleep, it's so important for us to sleep well . So sending warm wishes and sweet dreams your way . Gentle hugs from Karen 🍁
I never heard pf this until this week. It answers a lot of questions for me. Thank you for the input about the Trigger Point massage....I added you to my team...I hope that is ok. I live in East Englewood/South Gulf Cove and noticed that you are in Bradenton. We Floridians need to stick together! ;-) Please stay safe in the event we get this tropical storm/hurricane. It looks as though it is on it's way. Have a low pain day! {{{Hugs}}}
I move my legs a lot at night. My husband puts his leg over mine and says that I relax soon after.
