So I am very sensitive to noise, including music. I work at a hair salon where music is always being played and whenever it is "too loud" it causes anxiety and pain. Does this happen to anyone else or am I crazy?!

Members strongly validated the original poster's sensitivity to noise, with many sharing that fibromyalgia heightens all their senses, making loud music, bright lights, overlapping sounds, and crowded spaces feel overwhelming or even trigger anxiety and physical pain. Several members offered practical coping strategies, including wearing foam earplugs adjusted to muffle volume while still hearing conversations, avoiding loud environments when possible, and communicating boundaries with family about sound levels. A recurring theme was the relief of knowing they're not alone or crazy, with members describing similar experiences of needing to control volume, flee noisy stores or malls, and struggle with sensory overload that others don't understand.

Noise bothers me as well! My kids like to play music in the car loudly, and I usually can't handle it for very long. And, no you are not crazy.

When I'm at my worse, my senses are really sensitive. I get anxiety quite a bit and I know when you're on the verge of panic attack your body goes into a flight or fight mode. I definitely know my eyes dilate... so I can see how other senses heightening when we're stressed.
