Hi.. my rheumatologist told me fibro is not consideredoing eligible for a disability. I am an elementary principal and I just cannot keep doing the job. Stress, pain, stiff, fog you name it. Did anyone else have a doctor who helped you get disability? She said I could try for depression and anxiety but that is so frustrating because we know it is a symptom not the cause.
I live in the central ny area.

That's ridiculous get a new doctor. I was awarded disability and was even given almost 6 yrs of back pay for continuing to work even after my diagnosis. The judge looked at it as I tried to stay a providing citizen to the community. Do not get discouraged but I also would say start being your own personal advocate. What I mean by that do everything you can to get all of your doctors information in your charts. Start a notebook for everyone you talk to at the dr. offices their name, what time you talked to them, as well as what about. Also start a journal for yourself of what you experience on a daily basis. All of these things will give your lawyer a better advantage to do his/or hers job properly. Most people are turned down 2-3 times before being awarded. I feel this is done just to see how long someone will hold out or give up. You do realize that you have to be seen as not having income for a year that's what hurt a lot of people. Very few are able to do this. Fortunately I had very compassionate family and friends that had see me go through 4 neck fusions and daily excruciating pain until I could no longer take it. I hope you are as fortunate. I also will keep you in my prayers. It's a tough rode but if your pain is at the point of no relief you stick to it and go for it.
My doctor did the whole thing and it is absolutely eligible for disability. At least here in the USA.2
I hit mine on Fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue! I was 54 at the time and was a lab tech for an orthodontist! Couldn't stay up was so fatigued and couldn't use my hands and arms I hurt so bad! I was denied first go around, but appealed and got a disability lawyer! Was approved and a lot of back pay from the time I applied! So go ahead and file and make sure every doctor you see knows how bad you feel and make sure it's well documented! You can't be working while you wait! Best wishes! I am now 68!
I got disability just last week went from DLA to PIP enhanced rates. Happy to help if I can
I filed my own disability online. Was rejected the first time and then appealed my case. It went 21/2 years before I got accepted. My first payment will be this month. The only reason I was approved was I wrote to my state senator and he took care of everything
