Ok! I know I have had a bad couple of weeks and have been teary and now the heat has knackered me out and is making me hurt all over...but.... Does anyone find they feel over sensitive to things emotionally. A work colleague of mine said something to me today and it upset me, they're always the one who has something to say about the world! I don't really talk about my illness to people there - but sometimes I am just trying to get thru the day - and then someone makes a comment and i end up… read more

Members strongly validated feelings of heightened emotional sensitivity when living with fibromyalgia, with many sharing that chronic pain, fatigue, and the invisible nature of the illness make them far more vulnerable to comments that they would have previously brushed off. Several members described practical coping strategies, including allowing yourself to cry as a healthy release, reframing criticism by asking whether it's truly life-changing or just a minor annoyance, educating coworkers about fibromyalgia symptoms to build understanding, and leaning on trusted friends who can offer perspective when emotions run high. A recurring theme was the importance of self-compassion and recognizing that guilt, frustration, and tearfulness are natural responses to living with a chronic condition that others often cannot see or understand.

All the time. I even question close family members constant if they are mad at me because of something they say and normally their response is no that had nothing to do with you. I wasn't even upset. I get very sensitive to everything. You are not alone! Glad I'm not either because this exact thing has left me in tears many times!

I do the same thing. I often feel as if an off the cuff remark is directed at me personally. Before the fibro it would be the sort of comment/ remark I would have ignored but because I know that most of the time I do not look ill, I am hyper-sensitive and take things far more personally. I find myself crying at the oddest of things. I have always been a strong person who dealt with matters as they arose, now I find myself hiding away, and ignoring it until I am forced to confront the issue. Do not be to hard on yourself, and just try to deal with each thing as it comes along. Remember that you are not alone. Fibro may be an invisible illness but the impact it has on our lives is very real. Gentle hugs xx

I have been very emotional yesterday and today. Unfortunately my family while love me , do not understand why I am tired and down they tell me to not give into it , but as I am a business owner and I start work at 5am everyday I get tired a lot. My hope is to sell this as it is now to much to get up and get going in the morning. I enjoy working with the public so I hope to find something to do to keep me active.
