Why does most meds we are prescribed causes weight gain

I agree, but Lyrica is a bad one. Especially not that I am nearing 50, I am having a very hard time loosing belly fat. I try to swim twice a week, and on off days I bike or walk or do yoga. Now remember this is my schedule in my mind; however, each day my body makes up its mind on what it will allow. LOL!

I also think that the more weight we carry , the heavier it is on the joints. So unfair

Lyrica was the first prescription I was given when first diagnosed. I was so happy to finally have something to take that would stop the horrific pain. Well 6 weeks later.....$800 later.....and 15 pounds heavier.....never budged the pain. Needless to say, stopped that immediately but have yet to be able to drop the 15.

It is a listed side effect of lots of medications unfortunately. I think if they effect the nervous system they may slow the metabolism. Not sure though, sorry

That's a million dollar question right there! My husbands response would be lol " it just does." I have ask my doctors that same question and they never have an answer.
