I'm seriously thinking and trying to get things together to apply for disability. I was diagnosed in 2009 with fibromyalgia and also have diagnoses of arthritis, scoliosis, depression, lactic acid build-up, migraines, IBS, and restless leg syndrome, I'm just curious as to what others applied for (illnesses) and what your experience was with gathering your support materials, submitting, length of time for response, ect.

I use to work 50-60 hours a week, then moved south to where the climate we… read more

I applied for disability in 1998 and was finally awarded in 2000. It was a long process for me. I did much of it on my own and followed through with appeals until I just didn't understand what I was doing anymore. I then found a wonderful lawyer who fought the rest for me and won my case. I suffer from debilitating migraines and depression and since then I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I hope you get the help you need, just don't give up on the process and always file an appeal.

Becky, I have applied for disability and I have a court date coming up on July 20th, 2016. I first applied in October 2013. I had lost my job and I know I can't work. It's not that I can't do the work but I finally had to admit to myself that I am unreliable. That has been very hard for me to admit. How can I ask an employer to hire me when I can't guarantee that I will be there and be on time? Very depressing. I was denied disability when I first applied and have been out of work and waiting for a court date ever since. I will post how things go when I find out.

@A MyFibroTeam Member where you positive to any food allergies? If so after you made dietary changes did you see an improvement? Just curious.

I have been tested for almost everything. What's wrong with me isn't in question. I just can't work anymore and can't afford the proper care to make me feel better. Insurance only covers so much and not all treatments. I just hate being a financial burden on my family, especially when I'm not contributing anything.
