Severe Insomnia
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know we all suffer with insomnia on some level... But I have developed server PTSD and anxiety around sleep. I have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep every single night. I am up til 12am-4am every night and have to still wake up at 7am every day. I have tried ever sleep, anxiety, depression, pain, and muscle relaxant pill out there. You are obviously a kind and loving person with a truly good heart, an aunty in a million. The stress that you have put yourself under by taking on the children will no doubt have added to your fibro flares and insomnia, but its a trade of isnt it. You obviously did not want to see these children go into care so you did the right thing for them. But at a huge cost to yourself/health. However i am sure that in time you will learn how to balance both your health and tge children. I wish you all the luck in the world. And hope you find a happy medium for you all. You are an amazing person.

@A MyFibroTeam Member 😔 Thank you! You're right... Raising kids and fibro are both equally difficult and challenging, having to do both is dam near impossible most days! I also have the added stress of them not being my kids and having to deal with all the issues that come along with children of abandonment :( the last 2 years have been the toughest of my life and I am only 30 and don't have kids of my own. I am too young for this stuff!!! Thank you so much to all of you who commented I really appreciate all the help.

I have tried melatonin many times, different doses, etc. for me, it doesn't help, it just makes me have weird/bad dreams, and wake up super groggy and in a bad mood... Almost like a crappy "hangover" feeling. I know it does work for some people though. But unfortunately it doesn't for me. :( but you have to be careful with melatonin because you can take too much and cause imbalances in your body. Most people just decide to get it on their own since it is OTC, but never know what dosage to take. If you try it I hope it works for you.

I agree when living in a busy family home its very difficult to have that type of sleep routine. Sounds great in theory, total washout in practicsl terms. Try to take a few minutes everyday for yoursrlf if you can. Maybe when the children are at school or when they do sleep. My heart aches for you. Raising children is hard enough, let alone desling with the curse of fibro.
