I have been taking venlafaxine for three years since being diagnosed and have put around 24lbs on which I cannot lose despite healthy eating and walking . Before have always been a size 10. I have never felt this med has done anything for me at all and am on 75mg am and 150mg evening. I want to come off it but not sure how slowly you should do it. Was thinking of a month with 75 mg am and 75 mg pm then alternative days missing the am etc etc. Has anyone else come off and what has been your… read more
i am on 25 mg right now and 3 days to go and i will be done with the venlafaxine. It also takes me all my strength to do simple things. I see the psych doctor next wednesday and finally maybe she will be able to prescribe me something i have waited 3 weeks to see her with this bad withdrawals and restless limbs.
*menzel maybe you should try seeing a psychologist or mental health doctor depression symptom is low energy. There are tons of meds our there and me included is waiting for the right one. I can't stand for a few seconds without my muscles hurting or bones idk but low energy is a depression symptom
I actually just got off the medicine after 10 years. I have put on 50 pounds in that time frame. My Doc kept telling me it was not the medicine. I changed doctors and he gave me a lower dose. My last dose was 25 mg it was so low that I just stopped and didn’t feel the withdrawals I did if I just forgot to take it one day. It’s been a week and I feel good. Now hopefully I can drop the weight. I’m still in pain I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia in sept 2o17 and I receive trigger shots weekly and they don’t work. No one understands the energy I use to get through the day. No one takes me seriously
I was on venlafaxine for years. with recent dosing of 300 mg. i would recommend telling the dr. who prescribed them to you how best to wean off. I say this because i have had awful withdrawal effects.
oct 13 17 was decided to go lower (my doctor monitering) So it was dropped to 150mg a day. Nov 7 17
the doc lowered it to 75 mg a day and was given 2 weeks of the 75 mg dose.
Couple of days after i was finished with the two weeks i got bad withdrawal affects.
moving my eyes hurt. not to mention it was hard to move.
and I develope muscle pain that nothing is working for. A docter said they have to treat this symptom
differently because it seems to be a side effect of venlafaxine than a regular thing. So its been a week if the muscle pain and i went to urgent care past 2 days thats where i was given the naproxen and the second day i went again since it was not working. They told me to re take venla faxine and taper off more slowly with 37.5.
The head symptoms went away but the muscle ache is still here. I went last night and they told me to follow up with my primary doctor. Now i woke up this morning felt ok.now after i did errands and was home it started again went to primary doctor office but all urgent care was taken for the day.
Now i am in pain scared because its a withdrawal they wont help and have to wait till tomorrow morniing.
I did some researching and saw the doctor left a note of myalgia. NOw i put 2 and 2 together and think i have fibromyalgia. becuase i have the head aches and definetly fatigue. So i will see what happens tomorrow fingers are crossed
I'm so glad it worked for you Hun, we're all so different😊 Fortunately I didn't gain the weight but have noticed now I'm on Gabapentin I have to watch what I eat! Take care xx
I am seeing a holistic detox doctor, Dr. Brian Johnson from Upstate in Syracuse. He took me straight off of it, no tapering and I was surprised that I did fine, no side-effects...he is very well educated...check out his web site...I am in one of his fibro studies.I was on 150mg too. It is supposed to be one of the few that you don't gain weight on....but I have gained too. Good luck!
