Members shared practical solutions for managing sleep difficulties caused by hydrocodone, with many recommending over-the-counter options like melatonin (a natural sleep aid) or diphenhydramine (the active ingredient in many sleep medications), while cautioning that melatonin may interact with antidepressants. Several members described their experiences with prescription sleep aids including Trazodone, Ambien, Remeron, and Belsomra, noting that some caused prolonged drowsiness or required careful dosing adjustments. A recurring theme was the need for patience as the body adjusts to new pain medications, the value of experimenting with timing and dosage under medical guidance, and the importance of consulting doctors or pharmacists about potential drug interactions before trying any new sleep remedy.

If you don't want to take a drug to help with sleep and would prefer a more natural way. Then get Melatonin at a drugstore, walmart, target...any place that sells vitamins. It will help you fall asleep and not let you wake up feeling drunk. You can even take it if you wake in the middle of the night to help you go back to sleep and still not wake drunk.

My doctor said I couldn't take melatonin because it will effect my anti-depressant. I'm still looking for something to help. When I take Lunesta I sleep 12 hrs the next day or I still feel drowsy.

Next week I'm going to start a trial of Belsomra which is a new sleeping medication which helps lower your hormones that keep you away unlike all the others that increase your sleep hormones.
