My doctor just prescribed aqua therapy for me today he said it would not be as hard on my joints then traditional physical therapy. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and if they got good results? I love the water so that's a good thing.

YES! The results may or may not be immediate but in the long run it is worth it. I didn't use a therapist. I became a member of the local senior center where they have a therapy pool. I couldn't handle the noise of the aerobic classes so I tried to go when there were no classes. Most of the time I was too sick to drive so I made arrangements with another member. The best part is to spend time not fighting gravity. I never wanted to get out of the pool.
I went for the hot water therapy in a heated pool a few years back and the water does help. I just recently put in a hot tub and I am in there 2x a day and it helps.
Hi! team, if you don't have a pool you might have to go to the Ymca, or a holtel, some schools might let you swim. And yes us people that live in the south has fibromyalgia.
Hi! ChristaContreras, aqua therapy is great for fibromyalgia its easy on the joints just don't work out to long.
I went to a program at our local rec center called Fibro Moves for 2 years. I went twice a week. We did stretches, strengthening and cardio exercises. You will be sore at the beginning but you need to stick with it. The water makes it so easy to move around and it takes away a lot of your pain. Just make sure the water is warm as cold water will make your muscles tighten up. Sadly they cancelled our program because of lack of participants.
