@A MyFibroTeam Member I know it sounds like a lot but the things I do only last 1-3 hours and only one thing a day. I do talk to people about the deseases I have and how difficult they are to live with. What makes it hard is people see the commercials for medication like lyrica that shows you take a pill and you're cured, which we all know is not true, and they tell you to ask your doctor for the new medicine. The problem is I'm on Lyrica and I still hurt everyday all day long. I can't walk more than down stairs to get my mail and my legs are swollen and hurt so bad I can barely walk. When I go to the store I have a list and get what's on the list and get back home to put my legs up. We all do what we can each day and we all seem to push a little bit to far on a daily basis. I hope everyone is having a good day and staying as pain free as possible. Prayers out for everyone.
Schools often need help, they appreciate having someone just to sit with individual children and hear them read, and this is great for the kids, the teacher doesn't get time to do this.walking school bus often needs volunteers, where adults collect groups of children from the local area and they all walk together to school ,is good for children's fitness and less cars on the road,so great for environment too, frees up parents for work too.Animal shelters have things like cat cuddling ,where people go in and just spend time stroking the cats ect, this is vital for the more feral or lonely animals living in animal shelters until a home is found for them. They also need people to do home checks before an animal is handed over to the new owner. There are gardening projects too. Cooking in soup kitchens for the homeless. I once did something called toad patrol, basically every year lots of toads cross busy roads in order to get to their mating pond ,many do not make it as they are run over.toads are on the decline so groups were set up to spot toads crossing the road and collect them up and put them on the other side of the road .It's not ideal though as toads like the wet weather and also come out in the dark so long evenings in the wet not so good for fibromyalgia. But it was an experience.
Collect books from neighbors to donate to the school library or to keep and help with homework, most schools have a book limit set for the school year, make summer packs like you do the lunch packs, summer packs should have quarters for the park pool, a water bottle, goggles, nose plug, ear plugs, energy bar, just an idea most kids stay outside all day and forget to eat or they may be latch key. Just ask yourself what would you need for a summer outing, and I'm sure you'll come up with something
