Members connected deeply over the frustrating experience of severe fibromyalgia-related bloating, with many agreeing that IBS and fibro often go hand in hand, worsened by stress, diet, and medications that can cause additional digestive complications. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them find relief, including daily probiotics like Align or Greek yogurt, Gas-X for bad days, avoiding high-yeast foods, massaging the abdomen in the direction of the large intestine, and stretching exercises like cat poses to help move trapped gas. A recurring theme was the emotional relief of knowing others share this embarrassing and painful symptom, the importance of advocating with doctors who may dismiss concerns, and considering testing for conditions like celiac disease or structural issues that may require different treatment.

Hi Fionnula , I know what you are saying as well - I get IBS but it seems worse when I got diagnosed with Fibro. I now have to live in Harem pants or max dresses because I hard anything tight round my waist . The medication has caused stomach lesions and diviculitis that's why I have come off everything just have to deal with the side effects of that now 😷

I have found that eating Greek yogurt everyday helps mine. After I got very dehydrated, I got wicked gas pains and felt like I was stretching my skin. I sometimes put it in a smoothie but when I go a couple days without that yogurt, it comes back. Hope this helps

I'm just going to share my experience with bloating & tummy troubles , in addition to the Fibro ; in my case, I have IBS & have had it for as long as I've had Fibro. I'm under the impression that the 2 conditions go hand in hand. That's my opinion & what's going on with me. Hopefully yours will be something easier to deal with, hope so. Just like Fibro advice - stress & diet can be very agrivating to IBS , just FYI . Best of luck to you , hope you get to feeling better.

I wrote an answer but don't see it now but went and read everyone else's answers!!! This has just made me so happy or relieved I guess. I thought the terrible gas was just from getting older but I am only 54 (still not young but I'm not 80)!! It gets to the point sometimes where I even pass gas in public which is so embarrassing but I can't control it. I always thought IBS was just a bowel movement problem so now I will have to read up on it and discuss this with my doctor as he has asked me about it. Oh, I'm so relieved to read this!! In case my other answer doesn't appear, does anyone pass gas almost every time they urinate? Again, too embarrassed to ask this before!!

I get the same way but I know its because I'm not eating mom says a handful of popcorn doesn't count but like so many others I don't feel like eating and or cooking. Have your dr run a Celiac Disease blood test and don't let him tell you there isn't one cause I've been dealing with it for 16 years but back then they didn't have one they did the endoscopy thing and a colonoscopy to check out what was happening. So no more wheat, barely, rye, malt, careful with oatmeal. Try some peppermint or ginger tea or ginger ale. Mine is also from not strengthing my core muscles in my back and stomach but when you have pain you can only do so much. Hope they figure out what is wrong hugs
