Disability Doctor
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am in the process of waiting for disability. I'm having problems with my doctors saying they don't do disability papers even though they agree and support me filing for disability. I feel like I'm missing something because this makes no sense to me! Looking for advise from others who have filed for disability and if they have a special doctor who will write out the disability papers. Thanks in advance

I might have said to another member- my g.p did help me with a break down of my ilnessess and gave me a letter to help with claims, he did charge me for it but I expected that. I wrote myself up a word document over a period of time;I left no stone unturned on how illness affects my daily life and sent that in with everything from O.T , Physio, consultants reports -I get a copy of what is sent to my g.p you could maybe ask for a copy from your g.p if you don,t get one sent to you from hospital visits. I think our NHS is a postcode lottery in some areas its really awful.

My friend filed for hers and since her doctor seemed not to have the time she wrote out what she saw as the problems she had with fibro and her doctor retyped it almost word for word and signed it. You might ask you doctor to do something like this.

Hi there,, I had help from a local Welfare Rights officer, she has been a rock helping me to complete forms for pension, PIP and ESA she also advised me on getting council tax reduction, see if you can find one in you area or close by; these people are a hive of helpful info.

I went thru an advocate for my disability claim.
She sent the paper work to me that needed to be completed. I was able to fill out and answer all of the questions and then show that to my doctors and they went over all of my answers and completed the additional info needed from them. This way all of the paperwork could be done in 1 doctors office appointment, per doctor. I went to the medical records dept and had all of my records copied and sent to my advocate as well.
If you take the time to get many of the things done, most doctors will help you.But since most doctors do not get paid for all of the paperwork it takes to get all of the information you need, sometimes you have to do it yourself. But in the long run, it will expedite your claim.

Maybe they don't get paid for it where you live. I live in Canada and am in the process of filling out the forms. Here the government pays the Dr. 85.00 for doing his portion of the forms.
