I have been reading a lot of posts from my fibro friends, it is for sure we want out of pain. But I want to be honest, when I read our posts it's about finding a doctor who understands our pain and who will give us the medication to control our pain. Is this because we don't see a cure in our futures? Have we given up? And r just thinking of the present? No faith that they r not even looking seriously into the cause? Am I thinking to much? I can also say, I believe I am addicted to pain meds… read more

Members connected deeply over the complex question of whether to focus on pain management or hold out hope for a fibromyalgia cure, with most expressing ongoing hope while acknowledging the reality of needing relief today. Several members shared practical approaches including daily exercise routines that help manage symptoms, taking pain medications as prescribed rather than delaying them, and recognizing that dependency under medical supervision differs from recreational addiction. A recurring theme was refusing to judge one another for different coping strategies, emphasizing that each person's fibromyalgia journey is unique and what matters most is maintaining the best possible quality of life while advocating for continued research and medical recognition of the condition.

I feel like I need to justify my statement. I would hate u all to feel badly about me. I have taken the same drugs for seven years, most of the time as directed. At times I have break throug pain and take more than prescribed. Not because I want to be high but to be able to feel well enough to take care of what is expected of my, with less headache or body pain or even all of it. I say addicted because my pharmacist said if u take narcotics more then 10 days ur addicted, seven years qualify for addictions I believe. I don't know how my days would be without them at times. Good luck to all who can get by with exercise. Ur all stronger then I. I respect u totally. Ur strength is commended. Hugs to all. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

I believe we all are looking for a cure. I don't believe that the doctors will find one unless they start looking and stop looking at us like we're nuts. I do understand about being addicted to pain medicine, I am. It takes the edge off but the pain is still there. Good luck and gentle hugs

If indeed there is a cure found naturally we'd be out of pain because pain is the first focal point of Fibro because all those other things can be dealt with or is minor enough to live normally i.e. ibs & hypothyroidism. If there is a cure to be discovered it won't be found any time soon because doctors are just now recognizing that Fibro is not psycho-symatic but a real illness that requires a lot of attention and maintenance, but until then we as sufferers must pay attention to ourselves and find out those things that soothe us, flare us up, or the things that make our stress and pain a bit more bearable since most pcp's treat us all the same when for the most part we have to all be treated according to what works for us as individuals, even with meds that one prescription is not a cure all for all sufferers. As for the addiction thing I understand as most of us probably do but the way the government is getting into our medicine cabinets you or any one else can't depend on anything and you should have more than one go to medication to ease the pain and give your body a break from time to time, if you're having a low pain day then I'd suggest you take nothing on that day and there are natural remedies and things you can do for yourself that keeps your mind busy and not always your body. good luck and I can only speak for myself but I WAS NOT offended

I'm still hoping for a cure or at least an a treatment that works for more then a few people. For me the medication have limited value. I find that if I don't do my exercises every day I get really sore and have a hard time coping. There are days when I have to exercise just to get my muscles to cooperate enough to get out of bed. I have not given up. I fight every single day to be the best I can be. I also know a lot of people who don't have fibro who are in a lot worse shape then me so I am grateful that I can still function on my own and will keep fighting to make that happen.

I stil have my family and friends to support me so I count myself as a lucky person. Things could be a whole lot worse. Lots of hugs.
