Members overwhelmingly confirmed experiencing uneven pain distribution in fibromyalgia, with many reporting one side consistently hurting more than the other, often their dominant side. Several members shared possible explanations including spinal disc issues pressing on nerves, past injuries like car accidents or surgeries affecting the brainstem area, coexisting conditions like osteoarthritis or spondylitis, and the theory that dominant-side overuse makes those muscles and joints more vulnerable to fibromyalgia pain. A recurring theme was relief in discovering this wasn't an isolated experience, with members finding comfort in shared struggles and various medical explanations that helped make sense of their asymmetric pain patterns.

Both sides hurt but left side is worse for me due to a neck surgery on that side.

I have more pain on my right side as well! My right shoulder/elbow/wrist/fingers give me trouble. Could it be related to right handedness? Right handed people also tend to lead with with their right foot when stepping up or down. Perhaps all this just means our right sides are getting more use, and therefore the muscles and joints are more susceptible to fibromyalgia pain.

Wow I thought it was just me. My right side is 3 times as bad as my left. no one has ever explaind why. I thought i was just weird or it was a combination of my back problems with my Fibro.

I've discovered that my right seems to get more pain, and my acupuncturist said it was due to being right dominant

I'm righted handed ( well ambidextrous really) and my left side gives me my most trouble and if I do have other problems it's random.
