I attended Fibro groups...and read anything about Fibro..so I totally understood it..( then I knew I wasn't going to die)..I met friends through the Fibro groups that I could call and share things with ..knowing they would understand..gave up trying to make healthy people understand..finally understood they can not relate..and if they did it was always for a short periods of time.Learning a lot of tricks that help with Fibro is important..like using a electric blanket when the pain is rising ( I have it hooked up on my couch) or cook a lot of food on a good energy day and freeze it for the bad days..but having friends that have Fibro for me was a life saver..did not feel bad about sharing all that goes with having Fibro the good bad and ugly of it all with someone who really understands .(.gentle hugs your way)..!!
@A MyFibroTeam Member how long have you been in pain? That makes a HUGE difference on where you are on the grieving scale, example it has been 13 yrs for me, and just this past year ( which to me seems like a long time) but about a year ago i started moving into what they call "Acceptance phase" i had a really hard time & still do at times accepting this as my new reality, so depending on where you are on this journey there are different coping skills you could use. Let me know and i will do my best to support you in anyway that i can, its not easy, but having someone to talk to who has been where you are Might help a little.
We all have rough days. I go to counseling also which I love. On my rough days, I cry, am angry, sad or whatever. Then, the next day I make myself get up reminding myself it's a new day. One thing I do is think of something good that happened each day. It can be as simple as I took a shower without getting tired, I stayed awake all day, I could eat lunch or as big as I was able to go out and do something without wiping myself totally out.
The hardest part for me was being put on medical leave. I have been on it since Nov. 9th. The silver lining to this dark cloud is I can be home when my son gets off the bus to help him for homework for the first time. I love being a mom. My son gives me purpose and a reason to fight so hard. Find a reason everyday for being thankful for life. On the hard days reach out to friends or just take a pj day to recoup. God bless.
I'm still trying to accept this disease, last night was extremely hard for me and I though I was just going to give up. Sometimes it's hard to keep going but you need to focus on something that you want or want to accomplish. It's hard, gentle hugs.
This may sound odd but sometimes just screaming to the top of my lungs helps. I did say it may sound odd. I do meditation and self hypnosis as well.
