I'm 19 years old, from Ireland. I cannot work due to pain and fatigue and a million other symptoms! I have no quality of life, no income and feel so alone as I can't live the life of a normal -19 year old!
Does anybody know any jobs that would be suitable for fibro sufferers? I have been waiting 5 months to hear back to see if I can qualify for disability allowance and when I ring they just keep saying it'll be another few months before I hear anything ( that's government in Ireland for you!!)… read more
I know how you feel ,I have been sick since age 24and diagnosed aged 29 .I'm in England and it has been impossible to get any help ,I also rely on family which I would rather not do.In terms of work I feel the only options that could possibly meet our needs are to be self employed or work from home ,these mean you can manage your own time añd breaks effectively to fit in around your illness of cause the down side is no sick pay if your self employed and working from home unless you have a skill such as computers its generally very low paid work .I used to work from home putting together novelty earings ,but it was almost slave labour I got about 2p for each pair ,so in order to even get abit of pocket money I had to make thousands. Was not a job that you could live off of.keep on with trying to get benefit too.
I think you should go in and see those people you are applying to get a disability. They are putting you off. Go in and explain you are really not good and you cannot work and want to know what is taking so long. What if you didn't have your parents, how would you live. As far as work I worked at a desk job, perhaps some kind of a desk job but you have to have training. I could type and had Secretarial training and some accounting. Study to be an Accountant they have desk jobs. Some people like working with figures. Another job you could do is Graphic Design but you have to have some creative talent and you have to take a course in it. You could do it at home but have to drum up the business. You certainly could not do anything with labour in it.
@A MyFibroTeam Member it's awful isn't it?! I don't know about England but id say it's just like Ireland where fibromyalgia isn't really known and doctors just over look you and make you think it's all in your head!! It's not classified as a real illness basically over here!! If only we lived in America we might actually get the help we need!!
hope you get the help you need over in England! I've to fight for my disability allowance been refused it once and now have to wait months for my appeal! Hope you've better luck than me X
Do you have dshs ( Medicaid in Ireland if so they will give you food money or cash maybe both while you are waiting for an answer to your disability application
Don't think they do that in Ireland.
