I have been experiencing shoulder pain since the beginning of my fibro pain. As time goes on, the flares will let up but the left shoulder pain remains. My doctor sent me to physical therapy for my neck pain and weak right arm. I'm 4 weeks into PT and can now turn my head without pain. My right shoulder is sore but my left one is unbelievably painful. PT did dry needling yesterday as a last resort. They put in 3 needles between my shoulder and neck. My shoulder hurts in the front. Anyone have… read more

Members shared deeply personal experiences with persistent shoulder pain related to fibromyalgia, with many describing how certain areas remain their worst pain spots regardless of treatments tried, including physical therapy, chiropractic care, trigger point injections, and dry needling. Several members offered practical strategies that have brought them relief, such as TENS units, heat therapy, Vicks VapoRub, Salonpas patches, anti-inflammatory medications like Diclofenac, and regular chiropractic adjustments to address scar tissue buildup. A recurring theme was the frustration of not knowing whether shoulder pain stems from fibromyalgia itself or from specific structural issues like rotator cuff tears, calcium deposits, or bulging discs, with many members emphasizing the importance of advocating for proper diagnostic imaging and considering specialists like neurologists or sports medicine doctors when standard treatments fail.

I can relate..I could not turn my head without severe painj..and my shoulders and arms hurt a lot.I went to a Chiropractor..and he worked on my neck..he told me that from tensing up so much it builds up scar tissue. So he minpulated the tissue in the neck and within 6 months ( once a week)..it all went away..also on my neck( I had had they called it a buffalo hump) after treatments it all went away .If I do too much the buffalo hump will come back..but usually now goes away with resting more often.I am not a doctor..and I dont know what he said was true..all I know is after treatments it all went away..it worked fro me..♥ Good luck in solving your symptoms gentle hugs your way..!!

Vicki,
Did they ever check you for a rotator cuff problem? I had exactly the same issue~
it turned out to be a torn rotator cuff.

Fibro has the ability to move throughout the body affecting various areas at different times.
What an illness we have.
Ugh, ugh!

To better days,
Deanna

I've always had "sides" and "areas" worse than others. I've been diagnosed for almost 21 years, and regardless of what I have tried, from chiropractic care, massage therapy, shots of botox in the base of my skull area for migraines, acupuncture, physical therapy, and I've been from Cleveland Clinic to Mayo Clinic in Jax and many places in-between, those "spots" remain the same "worst areas" during a flare since I first started having pain, and those areas are almost always somewhat tender regardless. If you find a solution, please post!!! :)

Seems like you just described what I have. My left shoulder always hurts. My neck on the left side and even under my arm into the left part of my back. Right shoulder is sore but not like my left. The pain in my left shoulder almost feels like it would be broken when I move a certain way. Painful just to close my car door to drive. Wish all this pain would go away. Still praying for all of you. Hope you have a restful night.

Hi Vicki, I was in the same boat not so long ago. I'm afraid I have a heart condition so can't be treated in the usual way 😟. Anyway my shoulder pain lasted almost 3 months 😣 I just had to wait it out. I hope your doctor can help as I know how bad the shoulder pain can be x
