I saw a rheumatologist for my diagnosis, but he said there wasn't anything he could do for me since I have a huge list of meds allergies and referred me back to primary care doc. I then saw a neurologist who told me I shouldn't complain about my pain because there are so many wheelchair handicapped people who would love to be in my shoes. Hated him and went back to my primary care. Primary care doesn't know much about fibro but we are learning together and at least he will test me for whatever I want tested. My suggestion is go with whatever doctor treats you right and that you are comfortable with.

They will prescribe medications for better pain control. Pain management can also give u trigger point injections and pain injections into your back.
Warning: I was prescribed Fentanyl which I later learned is the now #1 street drug and accounts for more overdosing than any other drug. It's 10 times stronger than morphine and a living hell to get off of. I know now why drug addicts will be anything for another score. Wish someone would gave told me. I took myself off Fentanyl after 5 month's. Haven't noticed a big difference in pain. But a better quality of life. In the warnings it stats u can die with one alcohol drink, being in the sun or getting overheaded. No swimming or hot tubs because medication will get in the water and can kill a little one. What? The sad thing is no one told me about those warnings. I had to read it for my self. Not everyone reads the package insert.

A rheumatologist works with my fibro , arthritis, and sclermaderma, and raynauds. My neurologist works with my headaches and migraines.

I've seen a couple neurologists and did not receive any help at all. I'm going to a Rheumatologist this week. I was turned on to that idea by reading other's posts. I'm hoping for something better. I found a local university that does research and clinical trials on fibro and will be seeing one of their doctors. Hope this helps you.

Sounds much like my experience. Seems we have to be our own 'best doctor.' Sooooooo disappointed with the 'so called' specialists. My "Pain Doctor" seems to be better than they are, but, at least he'll listen and work with me.
