I've been dealing with fibromyalgia for over 15 years & it seems that with each passing year-the pain, fatigue & stress gets worse. I've noticed in the past year or so that when I'm faced with a stressful situation-I have severe anxiety/panic attacks & I'm finding it really hard to cope. Any help on how to head them off or control them would be greatly appreciated.

Members connected deeply over managing severe anxiety and panic attacks that intensify with fibromyalgia pain and stress, sharing the belief that chronic pain and unresolved trauma can fuel these episodes. Several members offered practical strategies, including distraction techniques like watching TV, playing games, or engaging in hobbies like coloring and knitting, using natural remedies like Hyland's Nerve Tonic, trying heat therapy and warm baths, and cautiously considering medications like Buspar while warning against the addictive dangers of long-term Xanax use. A recurring theme was the importance of therapy for past trauma, finding meaningful distractions like volunteering, and giving yourself grace during particularly stressful situations, with many members validating how real and overwhelming these experiences can be.

Do you have a hobby? Try knitting or crocheting , adult coloring, or reading a book... Some kind of distraction

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer my question......I (surprisingly) made it thru meeting with the lawyers yesterday morning without falling apart or going full blown into a panic. I did get Hyland's Nerve Tonic capsules-took them the day before & yesterday morning-they seemed to help keep the anxiety level down to some degree......

I honestly believe fm.is caused by long term stress suppressed over many years. Unresolved trauma is toxic. Getting therapy for the old trauma l found invaluable. Especially if you can't remember a trauma+its suppressed deep in the subconscious. Don't be afraid its no worse tgan what you're going through now.

I found heat therapy and a gentle massage plus a nice warm bath helps. I found that when I am not in severe pain, I would color in an anti-stress adult coloring book. I try as much as possible to distract myself from what is stressing me. Hope this helps. Soft hugs
