It happens at night when trying to go to sleep, body starts to feel weird, then hands and feet begin to feel cold. The first time it happened I had a sort of shock reaction after it was over and was shaking uncontrollably, I was very cold.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I experience panic attacks when I am really stressed or in severe pain . I have symptoms like heart attack, sick to stomach and a all over sick feeling. Find it hard to breath, feel like I am outside of my body during the attack and feel like I am dying. Just happened a week today . ER doctors say it's fibromyalgia. I knew what it was because I was in severe pain in my left shoulder down to my fingers! I panicked! I take Amitriptyline too but it doesn't do anything but make me have wild dreams.

Yes I have, and I felt like I was having a heart attack. My heart was checked and that's fone, but the attacks feel horrible. I'm currently seeing behavioral med and in om ability and Celexa for depression the culprit I believe was using my iPad in the dark when I couldn't sleep and they believe I was stimulating my brain to cause the attacks. They went away once I stopped doing that. Hope that helps. Hugs

FYI:
A couple things I've learned:
1) If you see a good therapist you can overcome the anxiety attacks, but it isn't easy or quick &
2) Be careful taking anit-anxiety medication (clonazepam, Xanax, etc) - a lot of doctors see this as drug seeking. If you are on these most doctors are more skeptical in treating you, especially pain doctors. They are also highly addictive. Even though you don't use one or want to use one, you may need one down the road. I never thought I would be seeing a pain doctor but I got so bad I had no choice.
I have also seen this where I used to work, the psychiatrist don't like prescribing them or prescribe meds to people who are on them.....FYI

Anxiety and/or panic attacks are a secondary diagnoses of fibro. I've started getting them several times and I fight them off. It isn't an easy thing to do.
