Members shared experiences of fibromyalgia flare-ups lasting anywhere from days to several months, with many describing periods of two to six months of persistent pain that comes and goes unpredictably. Several members emphasized that gentle movement is crucial even when it hurts, with walking around the house every few hours, swimming daily, and pool therapy mentioned as some of the most helpful strategies for managing symptoms. A recurring theme was the struggle to find effective relief, with many noting that medications like Gabapentin often only take the edge off, while heating pads, staying active, and simply enduring the unpredictable nature of fibro were common coping methods.

I have had flares that lasted several months. The best thing that helps is exercise. It's very hard when you're sick . I swim everyday for an hour and that helps. If you have access to a pool I highly recommend it.

I had a flare for months before it finally let up:( Just depends on how fibro wants to act up. At least that I've been learning for last 7 yrs. Hope you feel better soon:( Just try et keep moving as much as you can even if it's walking around your house every couple hrs.

I"ve had fibro for years and went for years not being diagnosed because my first dr treated me like a hypochondriac.. My pain is now constant and never do I get a break from it. Sometimes the stabbing pains are absolutely terrible and the shock me every time. I never know when to expect those. I'm glad I live alone cause there's times that I actually cry out with surprise and pain. I take gabapentin and it seldom helps, if at all.. It takes the edge off, but that's about it.
@A MyFibroTeam Member , if you live in Ontario, instead of hiring a lawyer, go to the Legal Clinic. The lawyers there are there specifically for O.D.S.P. apps that are turned down.
Good luck!

Peace, love and gentle hugs,

Catherine
