I don't want to be on so many meds. I am curious if anyone has ever gone off everything prescribed and what was the outcome?

Members shared deeply divided perspectives on managing fibromyalgia with prescription medications, with experiences ranging from successfully reducing from nine medications down to just two or three, to stopping all prescriptions entirely in favor of natural supplements like MSM and malic acid. Several members emphasized that medication decisions are highly individual, recommending gradual tapering under doctor supervision rather than quitting cold turkey, incorporating lifestyle changes like stretching, dietary adjustments, and moving to warmer climates to reduce symptom severity. A recurring theme was the tension between finding relief through medication versus concerns about side effects and dependency, with many advocating for open conversations with doctors about minimizing prescriptions while listening carefully to what works best for your own body.

I really think that medication, and whether or not to take them is a very individual thing. Some people are pro-medications and some seem anti-medication. I think you should do whatever works best for you, and without judgement. If you wish to take medication, but worry you are on too many, maybe have that discussion with your Dr.. I think that sometimes the Dr. will add something to see if it helps, and not think to take one away and they kind of start adding up.

Went to a doc who put me on everything... felt horrible. Nee doc has taken me off EVERYTHING and refuses to give me anything which may or may not be a good thing... Told me to get Malic Acid. So far it's giving me energy and maybe helping with some pain? I'm still having severe pain in my legs and back and exhausted but I have serveral other problems going on.. May wanna at least check it out as it's more natural.

There have been times I have been able to be off prescription medications. This usually happens in warm weather. When cold weather comes back or there is a stressor in my life all my symptoms come back 110%. Making me go back to square one.:( This has been my story since 2013. From 9 -10 prescription medications I am now down to 3. Weather is getting warmer. Yes!
