Members connected over the shared experience of pain spreading to new areas of the body, with many describing how symptoms have moved to their elbows, legs, arms, and joints over time, often without clear triggers. Several members shared that the nature of the pain itself can change, from achy to sharp shooting sensations to a fiery burning feeling, with some noting that overworking affected areas can cause them to shut down and hurt more intensely. A recurring theme was the anxiety and confusion that comes with unpredictable spreading pain, tempered by reassurance from the community that this shifting nature is unfortunately a common part of living with chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia.

After 5 years I am still getting new pains. And I expect to constantly get new pains all the way through. Every time I feel a new pain I panic and wonder if it will become a new fibro pain I will experience more often. I always have just had achey pain and shooting sharp pain, but lately I have been getting this firey burning pain. I think part of fibro is that it changes. Are nerves change slowly as we experience the pain day in and day out and as they change the way we feel the pain changes.

My doctor told me that sometimes when you over work your arms or legs they will shut down and hurt more. My left arm hurt so bad one night i was banging it on the wall so hard that I put a hole in the wall.
