My rheumatologist checked and I also have bone spurs. She said it often occurs with some kinds of arthritis. It happens in the same place you get planter facitis. She recommended a steroid injection because of the fluid build up. It is starting to get better for me I am going to get orthotics made

The doctor said it was neuropathy. I looked it up and it is a catch all word for when the cause is unknown.
I have foot pain with fibro and I have arthritis in my feet. I ware good shoes and that helps. I don't have planter facitis, but sounds like bone spurs
I have planter fascitis also and most of my pain was just how you described, like broken glass in my heels. I would believe that is your problem. Try frozen water bottles & roll it around under the arch of your foot
