Does Anyone Else Have A Problem With Finding Medication That Works?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm almost at my wits end with trying medications! I'm not a huge fan of taking pills to begin with as I've found myself repeatedly telling my doctor. Bless his heart, he really had no choice! He had to see what would work. But I have tried Tramadol, Neoproxine ( I think that's how you spell it ), Cymbalta, Lyrica, T3's , Advil.

Tramadol makes me vomit
Cymbalta increased my brain fog
Neoproxine was like taking candy
T3's same thing, like taking candy
Advil only works for my back pain
Lyrica… read more

I take gabapentin and find that it mostly works wonders in the morning. I force myself to work even though i just want to go home to bed. Then i think...no way am i going to waste my life in bed. Going to work actually helps. It keeps your joints moving and mentally helps as you have contributed to this world we live in. So at 48yrs old and having fibro for many years Ive managed to work...at the same job....with an injury on top. My advice may not be for all. Yes i do get the horrible skin soreness...tiredness...pain...but when i had kids i made a promise to look after them and i still have a 16yr old at home...raised 4 kids that i am thankful for everyday. I have a husband that understands and we don't have much of a social life but we do have each other. I hope that maybe 1 person may read this and try to get a small pt job. Feeling a part of society is sooo important. I also look after people with fibro which is ironic and yet frustrating. We're all different but sometimes we just need that little push to stop thinking about the pain and start thinking about life and what we want out of it. Stay strong

There are other ways to manage. Have your tried cleaning up your diet, infrared sauna, water fitness, restorative yoga, meditation? Regarding diet, I eat only organics, non-gmo, gluten-free, and dairy free. It helped with 20% of the fibro symptoms. People with fibro are basically maxxed out. They are sensitive to everything. Start removing toxins from your life (people included).

I'm new to this but my Dr wanted to take a holistic approach first and started me on magnesium glycinate 400mg one a day. I just started taking it but it's all natural and may help without putting all of those toxins in your body.

I've tired neurotin. It really messed with my brain function and made me sleepy. So now I'm on Lyrica which seems to help some.
I also take cymbalta which doesn't make much of a difference.
I take abilify to intensify my cymbalta and Lyrica.
I recommend zanaflex. I had bad side effects though so I take cyclobenziprine which doesn't help.
I also take Percocet 10/325 it works very good for 2-4 hrs but then I'm back in full swing pain.
I hope things get better for you.
High fives for hugs.
