Members shared a wide variety of natural and non-medication approaches to managing fibromyalgia pain, with heat therapy emerging as the most popular method through hot showers, heating pads, steam saunas, and Therma Care patches. Several members recommended alternative treatments including coconut oil for nerve pain and neuropathy, acupuncture from Chinese-trained practitioners, TENS units for muscle massage, chiropractic care, water therapy, light exercise, beginner yoga, and therapeutic massage when affordable. A recurring theme was the importance of pacing yourself, managing stress, choosing organic foods, and leaning on faith and positivity to cope with the all-over pain that defines fibromyalgia.

My favorite non medical aids are my personal steam sauna, my heating pad , my massaging twin sized bed mattress and my tens unit. Heat really helps relax muscular pain away, if I can get in the steam sauna before the pain peaks, I can sit inside of it and it brings the pain down to a manageable level. The tens unit massages the achy areas while I have it on and that also helps. Good luck to finding your aids!
Blessings and gentle hugs,
Brenda

Dear Aimes................The word "Natural" is what I am suggesting in my reply to you....."Coconut Oil"...This is such a proven help for me in so many ways that I can't keep from replying to your post....I use it for nerve burning.....Even neuropothy in my feet...It takes about 5 min longer than the rx pain cream but it is NATURAL.....When I am getting ready for bed, I use it on my face, arms, legs and feet....I love NATURAL....I hope you can find comfort in this....hugs your way.

I wake up in the morning feeling like I was run over by a truck...So a long hot shower helps me get moving.... I also rely on heating pads to help ease the pain on bad days. Hope this helps.... ((HUGS))

Hello Aimes: I don't know if this will be of any help to you or not. When I was first diagnosed with Fibro, I went to a Chinese teaching facility for acupuncture in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After approximately 6-8 visits, the pain was gone and the "all over" pain has not returned - thank you, God! It is imperative that the acupuncturist is either Chinese or trained by someone who is Chinese. However, a few years after my diagnosis, I came down with severe Sciatica and was in horrible pain for months/years until I finally found a pain management doctor in Lakewood. I was on Oxycontin for approximately 6-years. However, I was also on Adderall for 6-years and in May of 2015, these two drugs seemed to turn on me and I went into treatment to get off of both. I now take Suboxone for pain and, while it has a terrible taste, it works well for pain and does not come with the dangerous side effects known to so many narcotics.

Hi! I find water therapy to be helpful and light exercises. I find and do things that I enjoy and what is calming and bring joy to me. Avoiding stress and staying positive. I no longer take the medications and choose natural organic foods. Diet is key! Go organic! The medications you listed you're taking caused more problems for me. The things I mentioned has benefited me. I occasionally take a prescription pain medication. I hope this helps you some how.
