I'm wondering if I'm going to the right doctor for fibro. I also have RA which is why I see a Rheumatologist.
You should have a care team. I started wit an internal Doc
I think a rheumatologist is better for diagnosing Fibromyalgia, but you should keep in mind that it can take up to 5 years for a diagnosis, as it's usually a diagnosis by elimination. So they have to cover every other possibility first.
My former GP was English but he just looked at me blank too, I think it's got nothing to do with nationality but more to do with studying your behaviour. Don't think for a minute that you're the only one finding doctors unhelpful.
I'm going to switch Dr's. The one I have now is Indian and they have a lot of different beliefs that effect the way they treat. She never really gives me any answers and when she does I'm still in the dark. It's like pulling teeth to get answers from her. Have the time she looks at me like I'm an idiot.
I have both a neurologist and a rheumatologist. I don't know which is better. I've been going to my neurologist about 18 months. I've only been going to my rheumatologist a couple of months, I like them bothand they both are up front with me. My nneurologist is the one who diagnosed me. My rheumatologist is helping me with my arthritis and my pain. I also went to a pain management doctor but he was an idiot and I won't go back to him. It's up to you, you have to find someone you are comfortable with.
A rheumatologist is a specialist for fibromyalgia.
