Anyone Depressed For A While Before Fibromyalgia?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

My pain came on after many years of depression and anxiety. Lots of stress and loss in my life and then when my best friend and rock in life died (Dad) I started experiencing physical pain.

I'm wondering how much of fibromyalgia is onset due to stress and years of emotional pain.

I'm also wondering if food sensitivities and lack of exercise contributes. Although I have changed my diet and started walking, I still experience disabling pain and severe fatigue.

I notice that the lack of love… read more

Hi.. Yes... My fibro was brought on from stress.. My daughter had leukemia at 5 years old. She is 26 now... And well. I think I had fibro way before I was diagnosed, 3 years ago. I resisted going on meds. My symptoms got worse, and I was crying a lot. I am on meds... And try to exercise. I am also o
Hard on self. Any bit of stress causes my muscles to hurt and ache. I have learned to pace self. I no longer clean my house every week. I still need to let things go. Have good and bad days. My daughter lives with us and am married 29 years... Yet I still feel lonely. Since. My daughter was diagnosed, any life changing events caused me to be overwhelmed and depressed. I felt physically sick too, a year after my daughter was diagnosed. I also had a younger child to take care of. The weather also affects us. Take care of you, be kind to self. Hobbies are good... I love to color, read, and I crochet blankets and donate to Project Linus. Be well!!

Hi Jill,

I think that you are right. I too have had a lot of emotional pain and am seeking a pain psychologist for therapy. It can help to go through therapy to work on our emotional health. I've also downloaded an app called Fast Healing. It is a self hypnosis app that takes the listener to a safe place in their mind to relieve stress and most important, relax. I've used it for 4 days now and I don't feel quite as anxious or easily discouraged. My pain might be a little less too. I'm sorry that you are going through this with so little support. You will find a lot of support on this site! If you can walk, get out and walk every day. If you can find an indoor pool with a hydrotherapy program, you will get some relief in the water. If you are on the bed or couch, do some gentle stretches that feel good.

gentle hugs,
karen

I have gone to therapy, but I get more therapy from folks that have fibro. Doctors and counselors don't seem to be that understanding.

I am now at peace with Dad's death and believe my soul will be reunited with him one day.

Thanks for reaching out!

Yes! I believe my Fibro was triggered by major stress. Read my story if you would like to, I am feeling a lot better following AW's protocol. I have not completed his 28 day cleanse but I have implemented a lot of supplements he suggest and and it sounds like your body is telling you what you need to do!
