Intense Muscle Pain And Weakness
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm still a newbie when it comes to fibromyalgia. Is it normal to have a sudden onset of painful and weak muscles? My abdomen, lower back, and neck muscles feel like I was in a wreck or something. I also have been out of my Cymbalta for 2 days, but I also take Lyrica. Is this a pulled muscle or a medication withdrawal?

I have horrible muscle spasms across my shoulders, neck, lower skull, all down my back. I take zanaflex to help with it. They tell me to take 3xday. But I can't always do that..on really bad days maybe. I couldn't take Lyrica, so I take Cymbalta. There are times I forget it my meds though.

Neck muscles and across the shoulders, and sometimes down the arms is part of this disease. I've had it for a very long time. My doctors have had me on both. Neither one worked for me. I am on Gabapentin and Zanaflex (sp) which released the "lock" of my arms not moving past my head. The right arm is much better now, but my left arm I can hardly lift to shave. Never run out of your meds honey, it's not good to make yourself and your body go through that. So, get them as soon as you can, remember to listen to what your body tells you. If you need to watch what you spend your energy on, don't push it. Makes things worse. Listen to your body and relax and nap if you. need to. I'm here for you if you ever need to talk! <3 Much love and God bless <3

If I miss my cymbalta those symptoms come on quick. I get instant fatigue too. Get your meds refilled and take them on time and regularly. It is very important.

I take all my meds as directed and find that my neck muscles are always in pain. Lower back pain indicates that you may have some damage to the spine and yes, it's normal with fibro to have the surprise attacks of severe pain and weak muscles. Stabbing pain has haunted me for years. It's the fibro. Why are you taking both Lyrica AND Cymbalta? They both do the same thing and no matter why to that question, you should NEVER go without either without your dr's supervision. It could cause you some very unwanted results.

Peace, love and gentle hugs,

Catherine

I get muscle weakness in my back and then it affects my stomach muscles as well. I have IBS so this exacerbates that it seems as well. I get sometimes when laying down or bending like I have a pole sticking my back. That has started about a yr ago almost. Never progressed to daily but I do notice that when my back muscles get this weakness and odd sensation it extends into the abdominal muscles. My shoulders ache and neck muscles go from stiff to strained feeling. I get pain in the pressure points on my upper chest as well. That is how I was diagnosised by repeated pains on the right side of my chest that was so tender and sore. Then I noticed it was in other pressure points all over my body. Sometimes the pain in my shoulders will go down my arms and feel pressure or tension in them. It is very annoying. I am almost 66 and very active. My husband and I are relaying an old brick sidewalk the length of our house which is about 175 ft. We are almost half done. We work about a 10 ft. section or more a day. While I am doing the bricks I get muscle strain, soreness and it goes all over . My chest will hurt then it doesn't, my arms will get weak and then I get like a burst of energy . Sometimes I don't know if I can fly or drop dead. That is how much it varies. I know I am lucky that at my age most that do not have Fibro, psoriatic arthritis and Hashimotos can not do what I do but it still makes me anxious and overwhelmed. I see so many young people on this site and it breaks my heart that you all have more pain and can young children. I do not take anything for my fibro..I only take levothyroxine for the Hashi and I am very low in Vit D which causes alot of these symptoms as well. I just wish they could find a cure of all of it. My heart goes out to
everyone who is suffering from this horrible condition.
