Members celebrated together when someone experienced a rare day without their usual fibromyalgia pain, sharing the profound relief and hope that comes with even brief moments of feeling good again. Several members offered insights into the phenomenon, including one whose doctor explained that feeling unusually well before a flare may be the brain releasing protective chemicals in anticipation of a crash, while others suggested that relief after weeks of severe symptoms can feel dramatically better by contrast. A recurring theme was the frustration of not being able to predict or replicate good days despite years of tracking patterns, and the importance of cherishing each pain-free moment as it comes.

On a good day I'm frantically thinking "ok, what did I eat, drink, not eat, not drink, do, not do that made me feel good today?!?! After 11 1/2 years I've found very few patterns and causes.

I actually just talked to my doctor about this the other day but I feel super good before a flare. She said that it is really common and that studies have suggested that the brain releases some kind of panic chemicals because it knows (before you do) that you're going to crash.

Maybe you feel really good after the flare because anything feels dramatically better? Not sure.
