Vitamin D
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else have vitamin D deficiency? I've just been tested and have to go on a high course of vitamin D then a lower course for the rest of my life, I'm now wondering whether this is part of fibro or whether I have fibro at all as la k of vitamin D causes a lot of the same symptoms

In a child vitamin D deficiency can lead to longterm health problems in adulthood so they will be more concerned about him. Deficiency in adults can cause issues but increasing your levels by tablets probably won't make that much difference xxx

I think it helps a bit. Of course, like anything else too little or too much is no good. I noticed that I felt a little better after the big doses were done and I took the smaller doses consistently.

My rheumatologist was very glad I was put on vitamin d but said it would probably make no difference symptomatically, which it hasn't. She did feel however that for me to be brought up to more healthy levels of vitamin d could reduce the speed of progression and number of flares from my arthritis and my fibro

To learn more about Vitamin D search for "VitaminDwiki" and look at the section on Fibromyalgia

You may also find it useful to take a MINERAL Multi-Vitamin to make sure that you have enough Magnesium and Zinc etc. This adds the essential minerals that you may not receive from your food.
To find out more, search for "GreenVits"

Vitamin D3 is what you should be taking. Yes, most people w/ autoimmune issues are deficient. This is why I always ask to have it checked when I go in for blood work, as well as B levels, iron.
