So I got into a situation today where someone asked me why I'm not working. I explained that I have post lymes, bad knees, and fibromyalgia
The very next thing he said n he said not to sound rude but I don't really believe the fibromyalgia thing. I think it's something people use to not have to work.
Well of course that didn't make me feel good because it's not something made up and I would much rather me working for my family then being stuck at home and feeling sick every single day.

Members rallied around someone hurt by a stranger's dismissal of fibromyalgia as fake, sharing the frustration of invisible illness and the emotional toll of constantly defending their reality. Several members offered practical responses, including describing fibromyalgia as a nerve or muscle disorder instead, redirecting doubters to medical research, and simply refusing to engage with those who lack compassion by saying it's personal or none of their business. A recurring theme was protecting precious energy by surrounding yourself with supportive people who believe you, letting go of relationships with those who don't, and remembering that what's understood doesn't need to be explained to everyone.

I believe that most of us here bristle when it happens to us, so we Totally understand!! My suggested is the same, and also when you do get someone who finally had your back, it's somewhat strange. I believe that my husband knows I am in pain on a daily basis, but sometimes he can make comments that hurt my feelings or piss me off.
I've said this to a man that accused me of faking the pain, and not being able to work - "well it wouldn't do me any good to explain the pain of childbirth to u either, but if u like I could demonstrate by putting your family jewels in a vice, and see how well u can function?"
Needless to say he almost fainted, but he never gave me crap again!!

What a cheeky Fecker!! I think I'd have had to say 'That's very interesting. But you know, opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one and nobody wants yours' - I do apologise for the rudeness of this post but I got a bit cross reading this. How rude were they to you! xx

You might want to check to see if there is a fibromyalgia support group in your area. Some hospitals run them. That's where I met some of my best friends. It helps that we all know what the others are going through.
