I've been ill and depressed most days and don't have the motivation to get anything done. I'm not even interested in my usual hobbies. Does anyone have suggestions for easy, non-taxing activities to help pass the time besides tv and reading?

Members shared a wide variety of low-energy activities to combat boredom and lack of motivation during fibromyalgia flares, with adult coloring books emerging as the most popular suggestion for their therapeutic and stress-free nature, followed closely by paint-by-numbers, jigsaw puzzles, word games, and journaling. Several members described how bullet journaling helped them track symptoms, medications, and daily routines while also serving as a creative outlet, with some expressing hopes of eventually sharing their fibro journey to raise awareness. A recurring theme was the struggle between wanting to stay productive and lacking the physical or mental energy to engage, met with compassionate suggestions to start small, try creative hobbies that don't require leaving the house, and consider medical support for the depression that often accompanies chronic illness.

Add to my ans. yesterday: Taking a mild antidepressant when you have Fibro. is a must.
And you can take a muscle relaxer-It helps . If you do go on a muscle relaxer, make sure your doc. does blood work within 4 to 6 weeks after starting cuz. in some people they can affect the kidneys.

Most days I have no motivation either, and am suffering from boredom myself. It' s so hard on me and my family. But I have found a few things to help ease the boredom. Writing in a journal or diary, something my wonderful therapist asked me to do. It started out with writing down when my fibro flares started, how long they lasted and how bad the pain was, but it turned out to be my Savior and I write down everything, from my daily routine to every diagnosis from my doctors. I also write poetry, and draw pictures of myself making faces. It works for me...I hope you can use it too. Feel better soon and soft Hugs to you.

I hear you! I feel bored and fidgety but at the same time do not have the ambition or energy to do much. I usually spend my days alternating between doing small chores and resting (watching tv). Recently I found an app for my iPhone called "Daily Celebrity Crossword" so I do one crossword puzzle per day which makes me feel like I'm using my brain at least a little. There are many free word puzzle apps for iPhone or iPad. There are also real puzzles like landscape pictures.
