Im so sick of this chronic pain, taking pills,etc-Im willing to try acupuncture ,has anyone had good results with this procedure? And how many times does one have to do it?
Yes - Acupuncture really helped me, I discovered that it really helps with pain, fatigue, muscular pain too. For me the combo of massage, acupuncture, and the medications made a huge difference!!!!
Ok hope this helps. I went for acupuncture about 10 days ago because my neck was so sore & still I could hardly move it. I also had a constant headache. Well during the session I lay face down on a massage table. The needles were mainly around my neck & shoulders. They had a pulse coming from them- bump-bump-bump. I have no idea how long the session was, but I couldnt move at all. After, I felt a little better- & continued to improve for several days! I will probably have more treatments! Very worth trying!
About 10 years ago my left knee would give me problems periodically, pain when walking, trouble going up & down stairs, (to the point where I would go out my front door & walk around the house to go into the basement or garage, instead of taking the stairs). I did pt & it would gradually get better, then a few months later it would become painful again. After a few years of this I got a chance to go to Nantucket for a week. I had never been there, the fibro was managed, and my knee had been quiet for several months. What I didnt know is that we had to walking almost everywhere. After the the 2nd day my knee gave out & made it too painful to walk, I was stuck with an icebag on my knee. Anyway, trying to rescue the vacation, I tried acupuncture, thinking that it couldnt possibly help. Wow! Was I suprised. When I put weight on my left leg, the pain was completely gone. And - It hasn't bothered me since! (Knock on wood). The needles weren't put in the knee, but they did change the problem. The only unfortunate thing is that I haven't found a good, affordable acupuncturist near me.
I would have like to try acupuncture but my insurance didn't cover it and I simply couldn't pay for it on my own.
I tried it around the year 2000, and even then I liked it. I prefer it without the tens unit hooked up to the needles, but he insisted. One visit while I was nice and relaxed I received a JOLT AS IF MY NERVES IN MY BACK WHERE NOT WHERE HE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!! BUT MY BODY CAME OFF THAT TABLE AT LEAST AN INCH. When he returned I told him I didn't want the tens unit. That was the end of my visits.
I will say while I was in treatment before all this happened in would walk out of there feeling great. The feeling didn't last very long, but it was there.
