First of all you shouldn't use narcotic for everyday fibro pain or for any kind of pain outside of surgery. I do use them , low,low dose may be 4 times a month during winter less in summer. I've never had increased pain but relief from sever pain . It keeps me out of the er and if you are from a small town ,that's a good thing. I have went through a hit and miss in treating my sever pain for 8 years. My fibro treatment is different from my chronic pain treatment. When I am hit with fibro pain break through and sever chronic pain my narcotic med is my fall back. It doesn't work for every one ,like Lyrics, Cymbalta or Sevilla what works for one may have no relief for another. So if you try one size fit all approach you will fail in finding what works for you.

My fibro Dr said narcotic pain meds do not help fibromyalgia and can make it worse. I got addicted to vicadin in the beginning and thankfully am not anymore. They never did help unless I took an overdose. Used 8-10 just to get through work and I was running heavy equipment. Not a good idea.

Not personally, but it's a well known side effect of long term narcotic use.
