I am going to my GP today to discuss tapering off Cymbalta. I have been able to withdraw from Celexa, Welbutrin XL and Pristiq without any problems but have read that Cymbalta withdrawal can be awful. Did anyone stop taking it without any issues? For those that did have issues, what can I expect and what can I do to ease my withdrawal symptoms? Is there something I could take temporarily to help?

Benzodiazapam can help ease symptoms.
You may want ask your Rheumatologist for a referral to Physical Therapy and maybe get into a aquarobics. You will love it. And for Myofasial Release Therapy will be good for you. My brother is a massage therapist in California, and I know how good that feels.
I'll give you an update on my experience over the next month or two. I went to the rheumatologist last Friday to ask about weening off of Cymbalta, mostly out of curiosity about my current baseline since I've been on it for about three years now. When I brought it up he said "That's funny, I was going to bring that up myself." He and I are both concerned about me being on something indefinitely since the age of 19 or 20. I'm hoping I can keep things under control without any Rx, and just stick to more natural remedies, since I'm lucky to have a mild case as of now. I took my first dose of 30mg instead of 60mg last night and I don't know if it's psychological but I do already feel it. I have a strange sort of headache (similar to how it feels when you forget to take it completely) and I had a huge burst of anger this evening at my poor cat when he scratched on the couch. My rheumatologist is keeping me on 30mg for a month or two depending on how I progress. He says we can always go back up to 60mg if it's obviously an issue. He also wrote a prescription for myofascial release therapy and again urged me to get some form of cardio in almost every day of the week and to also stretch a couple times per day. He said that is his recommendation for a preventative sort of thing, to keep my symptoms mild. Anyway, good luck with the testing!
I agree, cymbalta did nothing for my pain, and i gained alot of weight. I went off it last summer, probably faster than i should have ( I had been on it about 5 yrs) the withdrawal symptoms i had were mainly electric "zaps" in my head, arms...i have to admit that when on the cymbalta,it did definitely help with anxiety and depression, so i am dealing with that now, however i felt that the lack of pain relief was worth going off and trying something else. I went med free for 6 mths, and that was terrible so i have just started on celebrex..fingers crossed for some relief
I agree - first why are you tapering off Cymbalta. It is one of the top three medications to treat not only muscular pain but depression as well. Speaking from experience - Cymbalta is NOT an easy medication to come off of. I went through with drawls that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I was on 90 then to 60. However, when coming off, Cymbalta stops at 30mg. That's it. Even alternating days to taper it out of my system was H3LL!!! Miserable!!!! Please be very careful and don't just stop any medications. Talk to you PC - they may have a few tricks to help out. Fibromyalgia is still new to medicine. I have found a lot of doctors that think it is a dump all system and anyone that truly has Fibro knows that it is real. I will keep you in my prayers and please know you can reach out to me anytime. I do hope you get some relief. Just remember to take it one day at a time. :)
Ginger Tea has been a life saver for me for my nausea. Take time for you, try to relax, take a good hot epsom salt bath, massage. a good theracane is great too. These are just a few things that helped me through it. And everyone is different. Hope this helps. :)
