Members shared deeply mixed experiences with Cymbalta for fibromyalgia pain, with some finding it life-changing for both pain and depression while others reported it worsened their symptoms or caused severe side effects like panic attacks, brain fog, nausea, and sleep disturbances. A dominant concern was significant weight gain, with several members reporting 30 pounds or more in two years regardless of diet or exercise, along with fears about dependency since the medication clearly helped with sleep and anxiety for some. The most urgent warnings centered on withdrawal symptoms, with members describing terrifying experiences including seizure-like sensations, mood changes, and visual disturbances, leading many to recommend extremely slow tapering by counting out beads from capsules over months to avoid these effects.

I took it a short time, I could tell I did not want to take it a long time. It did help the pain but I did not sleep well, was nauseated, had headaches, gained weight, had terrible fog, always tired, and just felt dull.
To go off I did it very slowly. I fact I took the pills apart and counted out the beads and took half starting with the 30 mg then went to the 20 and then 15 and to the 10. A week with each. BUT I had no withdrawals doing it that way and felt better as I got off of it. I could have handled the 10, but it did nothing for the pain.

Yes!! I've been taking 90mgs of Cymbalta now for about 2 yes and its helped a lot with my depression. Thanks to Fibro. I'm not to sure how much its helped with the pain tho since I HAVE to take pain meds too or I'm bedridden. Side effects tho...you DO gain weight (UGH) But at least I'm not a crying mess anymore :)

I know it is the med making me gain weight also. I have less of an appetite and my Dr. can say all he wants that I need more exercise, but I didn't go out of my way to exercise before taking Cymbalta! I'm afraid to stop taking it because it does help me sleep and also with anxiety.

I take Cymbalta and couldn't function without it. It does help with the pain but I really like that it helps so much more with the depression! At first it will decrease your appetite ,I haven't had any weight gain with it but I try and watch what I eat though. I've read suddenly stopping it can cause seizures so I wouldn't advise do this w/o talking to your doctor.
