Are They Finally Admitting That There Is Inflammation Along With Fibromyalgia?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

For SO many years all I heard from healthcare professionals was that there was no inflammation with fibromyalgia. Now, there are articles supporting what so many of us have been telling our doctors all along. Our symptoms. Inflammation can be felt. There are symptoms of it: pain, allergies, blood sugar problems, IBS, fatigue, etc. I personally have all of these symptoms (plus many more) because of fibromyalgia.
Has anyone else read or heard about this?

I too have heard of the inflammation. And Rik is absolutely right, constant stress raises the level of cortisol. creating inflammation. I also have all the systems, pain, allergies, fatigue, IBS,etc. It is not a fun illness as we all know. All doctors say that you cannot die from fibromyalgia and yet, you can. There are many more suicides from people who have fibro. They simply cannot stand the pain and the lack of knowledge or compassion from these physicians who act like it's nothing. Just excercise, do sleep hygiene, get and walk, etc. Sometimes you just can't get up and go!!

FM and inflammation go hand in hand and the best thing to rid your body of the inflammation is Tumeric/Curcumin

Yes, I think most doctors don't have any understanding of this illness, so they just try to treat the symptoms when it needs a holistic approach. I have been hearing mixed results on the inflammation issue. Some doctors want to do better research in this field but lack the resources, which is a true shame. And the pharmacy companies won't help with the research until they know more, so it's a catch 22 because they have the money to do the research. It might be that we have an underlying issue/illness that causes inflammation and that the fibro simply amplifies the pain. It's hard to know still! My doctor was saying that this basic research is still missing and this is why. That's another reason that doctors are still not able to treat this illness one way that will get rid of it. It's still so new and the research is new or isn't available to lead the way to whatever treatment(s) that will cure anyone.

Hi Sarah, I kept going to doctors, until I found one that listened to me about my fibro. I was treated like a hypochondriac for the longest and then I was very emotional one day, broke down crying and told my family doctor, I need you to just listen for a minute. She started looking for help for me and giving me suggestions on who I needed to see, with referrals. Glad I have her understanding now. So, keep at it until your Dr. listens or find one that will sweetie. Praying for you to be heard. Gentle Hugs!
