Recently I had a blood test that indicated very low iron level, thyroid hormones, white blood cells and low platelets. Question is, can you have this with Fibro. The doctor is saying it is not fibro related and if my levels are back to normal, I would feel better. The thing is, it does not cover all the symptoms that I have. Was very disappointed that I was dismissed yet again.

Hi @A MyFibroTeam Member
The more I thought about it the more I hope you follow up with your Doc about the platelets. It can be a pretty big deal or a little deal but can effect clotting. My platelets tend to be very low... the one time I agreed to take the steroids prescribed was before hysterectomy surgery. When I have blood draws it can get pretty tense as well.
Something VERY important is not to take anything that may thin your blood like acetaminophen or even Essential Fatty Acids that are in the fish oils. Those can also effect platelets. I put a link to ITP on a previous post to you but let me know if you'd like me to send it to you again.
Sweetie, go to a Rheumatologist. They treat all that you listed.
I am getting referred to a endocrinologist. Sounds like I am just suffering from the effects of fibro.
I'm so glad I ran across your question. I was diagnosed with fibro 4 years ago and about 5 months ago I was diagnosed with anemia, which is getting worse even with iron transfusions, but now I'm being told my thyroid is so under active that I'm being referred to a endocrinologist. My question to you and others is...has anyone linked hypothyroidism and anemia to fibro??
@A MyFibroTeam Member, get a journal and write down everything that you need to ask your doctor. It will be easier and the papers will be in one place. Good luck on your appointment.
