Members overwhelmingly confirmed experiencing both hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia, with many noting that the two conditions share overlapping symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, and concentration issues, making it difficult to distinguish which condition causes which problem. Several members shared practical guidance, including requesting comprehensive thyroid testing beyond standard TSH (Free T3, Free T4, and antibody tests for Hashimoto's), trying different medications like Synthroid, levothyroxine, or natural thyroid if fillers cause reactions, and working with endocrinologists or functional medicine doctors who take fluctuating levels seriously. A recurring theme was the connection between autoimmune diseases, with many members diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis before fibromyalgia, and the encouragement that while medications take time to regulate and may not eliminate all symptoms, proper treatment can bring meaningful relief and improved quality of life.

Yeah, I've been on thyroid meds for years, before I was diagnosed for Fybro.

I have both. Its hard to figure out which is worse and which is causing the current problem. I switch to a functional medicine Doctor because my previous Doctor would not address my rising TSH levels. I am on nature thryoid which has no fillers. I have also found I am allergic to drug fillers. I had been on Synthroid for years. Once I got off the Synthriod my pain levels went down. I tried to go back on and my pain levels went up.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's before having any Fibromyalgia symptoms. From what I've read, if you get an autoimmune disease, you are more likely to get others. So unfortunately, you probably have both :( It's hard enough with one. Hopefully your doctors can figure things out soon!
