Members responding to a question about night sweats described experiencing them as a common symptom, with many attributing the issue to a combination of fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism, perimenopause, or hormonal changes after hysterectomy. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them cope, including using bedside fans, cooling gel pillows, checking thyroid levels regularly with their doctor, and in some cases trying medications like Effexor. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of these episodes, with some experiencing sudden temperature swings or sweats triggered by pain flares, and the reassurance that this frustrating symptom is widely shared within the fibromyalgia community.

Yes, I do. Besides Fibro, I also suffer from hypothyroidism which will cause night sweats if your TH1 & 2 levels get out of whack. Right now I think my thyroid levels are fine but I am experiencing night sweats. So, I don't know is it Fibro or not?

I was going to mention thyroid also. I have Fibro and hypothyroidism and can go from freezing to sweating in seconds.I had a Dr. tell me years ago to make sure my thyroid is checked often because hypothyroidism occurs frequently with fibro.

I get the sweats but not just at night. It is when I have pain flares.

I get night sweats as well. I'm fairly young (38) but I swear I'm starting to go through "the change". I stopped taking BCP's and if I don't get better in a few months my obgyn wants to run tests to check hormone levels. I've had my thyroid checked many times and don't have any issues there but that could be another reason apparently.
